Author_Photo P.S. Bartlett is my pen name but you may call me Peggy

What is your latest release and what genre is it? My most recent novel is The Blue Diamond – The Razor’s Edge. It is the first installment in the Ivory Razor Adventures Series.

Quick description: If you can imagine a cross between Charlie’s Angels on the wrong side of the law and Pirates of The Caribbean, you’d be pretty close. However, this book is the story of Ivory Shepard, an unlikely pirate Captain who is captured by a rival pirate in order to collect the bounty on her head. Unfortunately for him, he ends up falling in love with her.

Brief biography:
I was born on Valentine’s Day many moons ago in South Baltimore, Maryland, less than a mile from Fort McHenry and Federal Hill. I suppose growing up to write historical fiction was inevitable considering I grew up surrounded by history.

My first novel, Fireflies, was published with GMTA Publishing in 2013 and the prequel to Fireflies, entitled Hope From the Ocean, was published in March of 2014, followed by The Blue Diamond in October of 2014. I love history and historical fiction. I get my history fix via movies, television and of course books, although I enjoy reading almost every genre.

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on the second book in the Ivory Razor Adventure series. I’m so excited to be back in the early 1700’s with these wild and crazy ladies!

Peggy’s reading recommendation:
Since it’s obvious I love historical fiction and pirates, I’ve been reading the Endless Horizon Pirate Stories by Cristi Taijeron. I’ve finished books one and two in the Uncharted Secrets series and I’m hooked! I’ve downloaded book three and I started it last night.

What is your latest release and what genre is it? The Viking’s Apprentice – Adventure story for children aged 8 and over

Quick description: Follows the summer holidays of friends Peter and George. They have an amazing adventure when they arrive at Peter’s Granddad’s house in the mysterious town of Campbell’s Cove.

Brief biography:
I was born and raised in Scotland. To be precise I was born in Hamilton in 1975. (A year my oldest daughter thinks is close to around the time Vikings invaded Britian; that’s how old her dad is.) Then when I was very young we moved to Dunblane where I spent most of my years until I was roughly 20. After some traveling around I have landed back in Hamilton with my wife Kathleen and our two amazing daughters. They do say you always go back to where it all started one day.

I have always loved writing and have written many short stories. One day I will publish these stories (re-written and tidied up of course) for everyone else to read. I knew in my heart that I wanted to write a novel and I had many ideas competing to be first out of the hat. (I have to wear a hat these days, I am bald and it gets cold in Scotland.) I did write a book, as yet untitled, but chose not to release it after I had the idea for The Viking’s Apprentice. This new idea grabbed me and I began writing. I was inspired by my daughters and especially my oldest who loves to read. I wanted to write a story they could read and enjoy sooner rather than later. A story aimed at younger readers, but that could be enjoyed by everyone.

Two years of hard work, re-writes, edits and learning about the industry came to fruition when The Viking’s Apprentice was released on Amazon on March 28th 2013 and has achieved number 1 in it’s genre in America and the UK on Amazon. Book 2, The Master’s Revenge, was released in September 2013 and also reached number 1.

Kevin’s reading recommendation:
Shutter Island by Dennis LeHane or The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King. Both very different, but both excellent.

What is your latest release and what genre is it? Andy Smithson: Venom of the Serpent’s Cunning, Book 2 – Middle Grade Adventure Novel Series

Quick description: “This series has everything a kid could want, action, adventure, excitement and Arthurian mystery!” – Erik Weibel, This Kid Reviews Books (Erik is 12)

Venom of the Serpent’s Cunning is the continuation of L. R. W. Lee’s well-received debut novel Blast of the Dragon’s Fury and the next offering in this seven-book Andy Smithson allegorical, fantasy, adventure series for middle graders.

Eleven-year-old Andy Smithson returns to medieval Oomaldee to retrieve the second ingredient needed to break a 500-year-old curse. But Imogenia’s spirit, bent on thwarting Andy to preserve the curse, is now in league with the evil, scheming Abbadon. Things go from bad to worse when a creature Abaddon, conjures through sorcery from the darkest magic steals the Stone of Athanasia, the source of Hercalon V’s immortality, causing the king and his wizard Mermin to fall gravely ill. Andy must now not only locate the second ingredient, but also retrieve the stone. Will he succeed in battling his adversaries in time to save the King?

Brief biography:
As early as 8 years old, L. R. W. Lee wanted to write a book, but she didn’t feel she had anything meaningful to say; she refused to waste her readers’ time. She hoped one day she would have something to contribute to others that could significantly impact their lives.

She worked closely with a mentor while growing her business for 7 years. This education culminated in a practical outcome of helping people shift narratives that are not helpful in living a peaceful life. In January 2012, she and her partner successfully sold the business. For the first time, she had both the opportunity to write as well as something meaningful to share.

It is her hope that kids, as well as adults, reading the Andy Smithson series will come away having been entertained, but more importantly equipped with tools to better cope with life and its difficulties.

L. R. W. Lee lives in scenic Austin, TX with her husband, her daughter who is a Longhorn at UT Austin and her son who is in high school.
