What is your latest release and what genre is it? Buried Treasure: The Advntures of Max and Maddie – After completing the adventures of Cynthia and Gus in the 5-book, Cynthia’s Attic Tween series, I began a new series for middle-grade titled, The Adventures of Max and Maddie. The beginning story in this series is, Ghost of Pine Mountain which takes place in West Georgia, the (disputed) site of the first gold rush. The current story (2), Buried Treasure, takes place in Minnesota lake country, near the source of the Mississippi River.

Quick description: Max and Maddie, continue their adventures in Northern Minnesota after they discover a gold coin, given to them by a miner on the grounds of the Pine Mountain Gold Museum, has a magnetic connection to a map Max finds in an old encyclopedia.

The thirteen-year-old best friends travel back in time to 1875 to the source of the Mississippi River where they meet Paul, an enormous, yet, friendly young man who guides them through the wilderness lake country.

Max and Maddie soon discover their new friend’s cheerful demeanor hides a troubled past. A sinkhole and raging waterfall puts their lives in danger as they search for a missing treasure that could restore Paul’s dreams and plans for the future.

Brief biography:
Author, Mary Cunningham grew up in the sleepy little town of Corydon, Indiana where her childhood experiences, and a recurring dream about a mysterious attic, inspired her to create characters, Cynthia and Augusta Lee, for her award-winning, Tween series, Cynthia’s Attic.

Cunningham is a member of The Georgia Reading Association, and The Carrollton Creative Writers Club.

When she gives her fingers a day away from the keyboard, she enjoys golf, swimming, and exploring the mountains of West Georgia where she makes her home with her husband. Together they’ve raised three creative children, have 2 granddaughters and an adopted, four-legged, furry daughter, Lucy.

The author spends non-writing time giving power point presentations on gathering ideas and the writing process to schools and libraries.

What are you working on now?
Continuing The Adventures of Max and Maddie, I’m currently working on the 3rd installment, The Longest Cave. This story takes place near my hometown in Southern Indiana and involves a pre-historic cave that has recently opened to the public.

Mary’s reading recommendation:
Hattie Big Sky by Kirby Larson, one of my all-time favorites. I’m also a fan of Kate DeCamillo, (Because of Winn Dixie, Tales of Despereaux). I’m also a huge Lord of the Rings fan!
